Certainly this model is NOT for an MG42 but for an MG34, and could be also used for MG08/15 and MG13. Please post some more pics to try determine if it is original.

As Carles says, not for the MG34. However, I'm afraid it is also an artificially aged fake. The incorrect style WaA, thickness of the cross wires and the protruding screw thread are just some of the signs.
