    A Historical weapon p 38 + Nagant 48

im am not a collector of weapons, but i know a family in Germany that have a couple of weapons they are curious about what they might be worth.

the first one is a russian Mosin Nagant from 48 whit bajonet

the second is a historic weapon P 38 belonging to officer Herbert Regel ( ek1, ek2, cccb, infabz, dkig, and more ) holder, and this is his service gun trough all these medals so a very historic gun rare seen. Herbert Regel was shortly before his capture able to hide his service pistol under the floorbord in his house, shortly after he was taken pow by the russians , ended up in Sachenhausen and later transported to Leningrad ( Saint Petersburg ) where he had hard Labour, he manage to survive the war and the russian captivity, got home but did not say anything around his pistol before 1998 ( DDR system )where he shortly before his death in 99 gave it to his son, witch made it legal later on as stated in the following papers.

the pistol bare scars of being hiding under the floorboards for so long but is fully functional, i myself had the pleasure of shooting whit this several times trough out the years i have known them.

both weapons is fully legal whit papers and is both belongings to his son Rolf Regel.

I cannot comment on the Nagant as these are outside my comfort zone but that P-38 is in almost relic condition and I would struggle to place a value of 300-325 USD on it. Personally, if it was offered to me I would pass on it even as a shooter.

The Mosin is not a historical weapon...I'd say not more than 300€ or so in Germany, if it is in working condition. Have a look at Egun.de.

The mosin nagant appears to be dated 1948?

In the USA a place called Big Five Sporting Goods ( a national chain store) had these for sale for years for $79.99 with bayonet, oiler, and ammo pouch.

They probably still have them for sale.

In such rough condition the P.38 would be valuable only if you could link it to Regel as he was a highly decorated soldier. Although difficult this could be achieved if his son has Regel Soldbuch with this pistol listed by its serial number as issued to him.

                          Hi,
I would be happy to share my feelings both as a german ww2 collectors, as also as a sport shooter.

For collecting purposes, this is a very nice pistol. Together with official papers, awards, period photos from H. Regel, it would be a very valuable piece in any ww2 german collection.

For shooting, I think these ww2 pistols with 9 para are very hard to shoot. I have an old GP35 built in 1944. Very nice pistol. But compared to modern 9mm gun, it has become quite obsolete in terms of accuracy. A friend of mine has a ww2 P38 : it is the same. Nice historical pistol , but very hard to shoot 》》》much better results with modern 9mm pistols.

Such ww2 P38 sell in France fort approx450 eur co sidering its condition. But this is rather for collecting than shooting

                          Best regards

                            hey there gents

i was lucky once to shake my hands whit Herbert in 99 shortly before he died, a real gent whit a lot of experience i my eyes. Rolf his son was my friend for almost 16 years until he suddenly died too sadly, he told me that his father was very respected by his fellow officers as a great ( tapfer ) soldier who did more then any could ask for, and i do believe in that.

trough these 16 years i had a lot of talking around his father and rolf showed me his medals set, and year of cause i took a pics of these. at the same time i saw the urkunden etc too, and that was really interesting rare papers. rolf gave me a pic of his father at the time he got his dkig, the pics will be seen under here whit his medal set which i did take many years ago.

i do not know if the family has the papers on the pistol or a soldbuch from 1938 but i can try ask the widow, i see her 2-3 times per year- maybe she still have it.

i remember rolf was very proud of his fathers pistol, and in start 91 he made it legal, and these papers i do have, and will be provided to a possible buyer.

sorry bout the pics scould be vertical but the forum messes it up....

Most original finish and original matching number Mosin Nagant rifles are found as post-war production. Most pre-war and war-time are either rebuilt to match, or mismatched.

Here in the States, it would be a $350 carbine today.
