unkknown (MG, Flak) shoulder stock, help needed

Got this shoulderstock. Quite big and substantial. Similar to MG15 stock, but I think it is not. I did not find any markings. Maybe for another Luftwaffe MG that was converted to a ground combat MG. Maybe older (WW1) as well.

AA battery for size comparison. Really quite a big item.

    Any help apreciated!

OK, will update tonight. Maybe interesting as well that inside there is threading, so the stock will be "screwed" on whatever gun (maybe anti- tank?) as well.

        Measurements will follow.

          Re butt stock,

Going to throw a wild card out their and suggest that it may be a variation of a fortress mount butt stock or from an armoured vehicle.

Check the dimension internally against the fitting for carrying the MG34 on a bicycle,

The top screw would appear to do all the work of attachment as it seems to compress the top element down to lock it on. I presume all of the small holes would be to stich a pad onto it for comfort (now missing)

The lower cut out would allow a bottom mounted latch to slide in and still function to remove a buffer assy for instance without having to unscrew everything first

I cant actually make out any internal threads but that may be my PC rendition being a bit squiffy.

It looks like a shorter version of the 15 stock so perhaps a local mod to suit circumstances or a copy made as the design was good.

          Regards

          Tim

            @Gurtsack:

            here are the dimensions:
            Diameter 50mm
            CutOut: 35x17mm (lengh and width)

Hope that helps. As said, it is a bigger Thing than usual. And a threading inside so it can be screwed on, and then fixed additionally with the screw.

Hi, there was definately some padding stiched to the end, now missing. For comfort when firing the weaponary.

The lower cut out is maybe so a trigger assembly will fit in. But then the stock would be very short and uncomfortable.

And it is definately not a Shorter Version of the 15 as it is MUCH bigger. I have a stock for the MG15 at home, and it is similar as in clamping mechanism, but still differernt and much bigger (in Diameter and in Overall size).

I was thinking variation on a Panzerbüsche butt plate, but it looks too short even for that.

That was one of my Option as well, so I searched for all known Panzerbüchsen. Did not find a stock that is Close to this one....

I think it is something bigger. But no idea what.....

The Granatbüchse is a Panzerbüchse that has been modified. Not same stock as here. But maybe Close.....

The Thing is that it can be of another Country as well. This came with other german stuff, but the Wehrmacht had all Kind of Things at the end of the war......

I think we are getting there.....

The clamping mechanism is definately the same as from the MG15, ground combat (pic 1). But bigger.

MG131 for ground combat is VERY Close now, see pics 2 and 3. I think this is the direction of the solution to the "mystery".....
