I found a 37mm projectile while cleaning out a garage, and I'm wondering if someone can help me with some info.
I need to know if there's any danger of it being loaded with HE or phosphorus, or anything like that first of all, because if so I'll want to de-activate it.
Secondly, I'd like to know what type of gun it was for and is 1942 the date it was made?
Lastly I'd like to know if the brass shells are available, and if so what kind of prices they go for, and how common they are.
The projectile is 4 3/4 inches long, seems to be made of steel, and has the brass ring around the base. In the base is a hole that has what looks to be a clay plug in it. It's marked on the ring: LOT 51505-67-1942- (bullseye looking mark)-37MM M74 and a stamp which looks like two crossed cannons in a circle.
Thanks
