    MOD Small Arms Collection

I was fortunate to be able to visit the MOD Small Arms Collection, at the Land Warfare Centre in Warminster (not open to the public). Attached photos to give you an idea what it is like.

The collection goes from the longbow to current issue firearms, here are few of the more unusual sights.

It is responsible for the recruiting, manning and training policy of the Infantry.

In other words the Inf HQ for the British Army

                Festung,

Everything in their is original. Its has all been used as trails and evaluation of either the selection process for the purchase of new weapon systems for the british infantry, or alternately been tested and evaluated in its own right as it has unusual design features.........or........believe it or not........been used as a control piece to see if new stuff can make the grade.

Whilst serving I was fortunate to have fired for instance, the De-Lisle Carbine. (as shown with the wood stock) I doubt that you will find a modern piece of kit more silent than that thing, they got it right first time.

                Click..........Hisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss sss

I think I saw an MG34, however I do not recall an MG34/41. Its not impossible however, don't forget when P Laidler wrote his collector grade on the Sten, it was not until they started to rummage in the back that they found Serial No 1 wrapped up in hessian under a pile of kit. It had been their all those years from the initial assessments carried out!

                      Regards

                      Tim

                          Mg34/41

I was there 5 years ago. They have both the 34S and 34/41.

You were lucky then. It must have been great to see.
