New EU legislation on deact pistols?

Ive been offered a Luger at a reasonable price.Can anyone advise me in simple terms of the new EU legislation on displaying a deact in Ireland?My brother says the document is about 20 pages long and its all lawyer speak.Hes sending me a copy anyway,but thought id ask here first.The gist im getting is,that the magazine will have to be welded in place?Will it need to be kept in a locked cabinet? I might have to make a quick decision on the pistol,so any advise will be much appreciated,cheers

You ll get a piece of metal with a gun aspect. Welded barrel, normaly with open holes, firing pin cut, chamber welded, receiver 45 degrees cut and firing pin place welded, slide destroyed on 2/3 of its length.
I think that welded magazine and removing of almost all the firing system is for the smg

Jesus,i wouldnt have the heart to do that to a Luger,id rather not buy it,than butcher it like that.Im having a chat with the local firearms officer in the cop station,to see exactly whats required.Who knows,maybe the Luger might fall under an antiques section.Perhaps a swifty few pints at the local might encourage him to show sympathy.

No way to avoid this new law, only if you buy from a collector who don't send (illegaly) the gun to be butchered to comply the new laws

They added the grinding of the slide and magazine welding. maybe slide welding to receiver too.

Thanks for that info jujuy,it doesnt look like it will be worth buying a nice one if i have to ruin it.Maybe setttle for a crusty old ground dug.

What a loud of crap if the weapon cannot be fired that should be enough ,why vandalise a weapon so it just looks like a toy ,may as well buy a replica so much for preserving history ,i know we need to deactivate but butchering a gun stroke rifle etc is going beyond common sense ,as if a criminal in this day and age is going to want an antique gun to perpetrate a crime when there so more easy ways of procuring a more modern weapon.

In short, new de-activated weapons equal completely destroyed weapons. It's a shame really.
