    K98 Manufacturing Tool??

    Hey guys...

    Found this recently.

    It is marked:

    W.P.
    1940
    98. K

Looks to be the shape of a Barrel Band...

    Some sort of armourer's tool?

    Thoughts?

    TIA

    Could be buffering tool? b.r.Andy
WP stamp could be from polish? by germans in 1940 i would be expect letter codes of maker marking and WaAproof. but maybe i am wrong.is not my area.

Could it be a HWA inspector's gage, used to check whether the 98k front barrel band was within tolerances for HWA acceptance?

Seems a bit beefy for a tolerance gauge, no?

I suspect the initials are not a manufacture stamp...could be indicating what it is for?

The checquered grip could stand for a proof instrument, dont looks like used with heavy power, gauge could be real.b.r.Andy

I wonder if it could be an armourer mandrill ?, used for reshaping items that may have been deformed but can be reused with a bit of correction.

            Regards

            Tim

That for a trigger guard could make sense. Do you have a Kar 98k around to see if it fits?
