    Wehrmacht amo belt in stainless steel

    I got last weekend this amo belt in stainless stell, never seen bevor!
    Must be verry verry rar, it is a ground dug.

      Good original early parts of ammo belt.

        Those are the early ones for the MG34 produced until 1935. Very nice!!!

          These had a high content of chrome that made them almost stainless steel. The problem was that it also made them britle, so they tended to brake, as you can see in the pics.

            The is the first one i saw in over 10 Years of collectiong!
            He is found in the battel of Halbe! (not from me!)

            Are this belts normaly for 50 or more rounds?
            This are 97 Stainless steel beltparts.

              Apparently you would have two belts of 50 rounds each...but some links are broken.

                Hello again Daniel,

                I've just spotted an early "stainless steel" ammo belt among others of mine. In the pics it looks blued as other normal belts, but if you put them side by side, you can see this one is clearer. It is dated September 1935.

                  Cool, yours looks more like the normal, dark of bräunierung.
                  On my i cant read the date of produktion, it is to rosty......

                    Yep, it looks dark but if you compare to a normal belt you can see the difference...it looks greyish (top belt), as if phophated. BTW, some links, including the starter, of your's are not original to the belt, but perhaps Waffenmeister modified.

                      Try a magnet on the links. Stainless steel is not magnetic. I don't think your belt is stainless steel.

                        You are right, as I mentioned in post #5, they are almost stainless steel. Mine are both magnetic. The fact is this kind of belt doesn't get rusted as later ones.
