Pretty sure this has been here before . Yes it is not good but has been a fact of life collecting Nazi stuff all along . No clue as to what some of them are but the quality looks a little low on some ?!? Actually being mainly a Luger guy that does NOT go for any with post-production markings on them It doesn't have much affect on me . Pretty easy to tell if the markings are all legit on a common old 1939 42 code Luger . Dave

Yes, buckle1, Many care!! But what can you say other than utter disgust at those who would cheat and mislead. Not just the Nazi stuff, but US as well. I.E. cartouche's and proof marks on US military weapons.
And 35 Ford Nut, you well know that there are many OTHER ways to cheat and defraud. You and I speak of Lugers--- What a snake pit of deceit. Not just the stamps, but other mechanical items "freshened up", or just outright changed. There was a guy out West that specialized in that.
We must educate ourselves!! Buy Books!!
And don't forget, the forgers buy books too!!
Deal only with folks you know and trust.

The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

True enough and the " out west " guy was not the only one . I am from the home area of a major " artist " also . The one here was the source of the bogus 1916-1918 navy lugers . Very well done and they fool many to this day . Regular 1916-1918 militaries [ in the proper serial range of course ] with FAKE NAVY barrels, rear toggles and bogus markings . He and the western fella are one of the big reasons I do not have any post production marked Lugers and haven't had any for about 20 years . The freshened up issue has always been there with all old guns and I imagine it always will . I find that chasing REALLY NICE standard issue military ones is fairly safe as I am pretty good at detecting touched up stuff . Been doing Lugers since the early 70's and you can get familiar with them . And YES this fake crap is not good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave
