    Oppinions needed on P38 grips?

    Hi All.

I had a guy message me about the P38 grips I'm selling on ebay saying they are fake. One of his main arguments is that they are missing the metal inserts in the screw holes and how clean the backs are. He says they are also the wrong color.

You can clearly see that there was metal inserts and that they are missing. As for the clean comment not sure what to say about that because lots of WWII stuff is clean or even mint. I have a p38 with a set of grips that are the same color?

Anyway I am open that I might be wrong and do not want to sell a set of repro grips as originals but this guys argument seems pretty weak to me. Could I get some of the P38 experts to chime in?

Here is a link to the grips

    Thanks in advance!

Did you post over on the P38 forum?
Yes, you can clearly see where the metal grip escutcheon was, but the color is most unusual. Not sure though. My vote would be original, but I am no expert. Ron

        Hi Bill,

The do appear to be reproductions. The color is off and the quality of the mold is not good.

        Sorry.

        Regards, Leon

Thanks! Ebay will not allow me to end the auction early so I have notified the bidders that will not hold them to the auction because I found out it is a reproduction.

Too bad, but better to find out now than later and have someone upset over it. Ron

As the auction is over, notify the winning bidder of your findings.....Than go from there......Bodes

He is probably going to try to get the money back and keep the grips.

just go to your PayPal account and refund his money. You can also provide an explanation as to why you refunded his money, and then cancel the transaction on eBay.

clearly Repros for me as well. Did you send the grips? If not, just reimburse via Paypal and that is it.
