Unknown 98 pouches ???

Just picked these up on a lark. They dont look like anything I've seen. Anybody help me out on country of origin or era?

Not sure, but if three clips fit in each pocket, it might be german WWI.

Thanks. They certainly have a WWI feel, but I've never seen a German made 98 pouch without the support ring on the back. . . ???

These are Very similar ( & likely are) Turkey /Turkish ..type pouch there were countless lots of these about 10-15 yrs ago inthe US ..Some were faked to resemble WW I pouches.( Hallmarked) .WW Iwhich are typically Brown pebbled & with a D ring in center..alot of these Turkish pouches were cured/ treated with some Odd chemical treatment which gave then an awful smell!

Well now that you mention it, I do have another one, not pebbled and with the d ring, can't remember if its marked, that I always thought was wwi German that smells like creeping death!!! Thanks for the info!
