Look what I found: StG44 still in use!

    Oh well,

Look what I found: a MP44 made its way from 1945 to Iraq somewhat . I´m crying and suffering with cold sweating. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Looks like it might even be an original sling. Jeeze, just goes to show whats floating around out there. If this guy knew what he could get for it on the collectors market, he might change sides!

What's the typical price level for a functional STG44 in original condition? (Yes I know they cost A LOT, but how much exactly?)

I wonder about the ammo too. I was told recently that East Germany made some ammo in the 60s, but even that is long time ago.

I saw that pic on another board. I replied that I think it has been PhotoShopped.

While I don't doubt that WWII-vintage weapons are still in use all over the world, I don't believe in THIS picture.

          JMO,

PUH-LEEEZE don't ask me for a link but a few months ago I saw some photos of GI's with a few of Saddam's gun collection, and lo and behold they were shown with an MP-44. Very cool.

                JMO,
                John and Paul,

I REALLY hope that you both are correct. If not, it is a crime!!!

But I also have a picture of a palestine during the 70´s, holding a MP44 during a combat. So, they must have received some MP44 in the past.

However, I should remember you that there are many huge collections of weapons at Middle East. Maybe some weapon that was at a collection in Kuwait and was stollen during the 1991 invasion.

                Well, just a though.

                Wishes,

                Douglas.

The US Government sent a friend of mine to Afghanistan twice in the past year. On at least one of those trips he viewed a room full of vintage WWI and WWII weapons, mausers, MG 34s and 42s, MP 44s, virtually everything (plus all the Soviet stuff). I will have to ask him if he saw any FG 42s.

If only he could have taken pictures, as I suspect there were Maxims and even Lewis guns in that room.

                        Syria

Syria many moons ago bought a large lot of MP44's and ammo for them from Czech., a fellow by the name of Bill Petrie or something like that brought in 50,000 rounds of the ammo ( back in the 80's ).

Like I said in my previous post; I don't doubt for a second that there are MP44's still in use.

That posted pic just doesn't look "right".
