    quick question-2 k98 rifles

I can only afford one of these, but I have been offered two k98 rifles, both in the same condition, all matching and correct. One is a bcd/ar42 dual coded, the other is a byf44. The byf44 is $100 cheaper but has a couple East German markings on the barrel. Which should I buy? Which is more colelctable, and does the East German ma rkings seriously detract from value? I apprecaite what you all think, thanks in advance for helping me with this decision!

    Joe,
Go get your coat on and jump in the car... drive over and buy that "dual-marked" rifle as soon as you can... THEY ARE TOUGH TO FIND!

The byf's are no problem at all to locate and the E. German markings also hurt this rifle a bit.

    Good find!

Robert is correct, but left out the fact that you should speed while going over to his house to buy that dual code K98!

The "byf44"s are the most numerous K98s available (going by sheer numbers produced).

Well, it's here, and I think I like it. It looks to be in excellent condition, and EVERYTHING matches. Could the forum members give me their opinions? I only removed the barrel bands to check the sn and the buttplate. Still learning on this, paid about $300.00. Sorry for the pics, took them quickly after I hilighted the sn and codes.

Thank you all. This forum is the greatest, but it is the membership that makes it so. I feel quite fortunate to have this rifle, and have Robert and Matt to thank especially. Thanks again Gentlemen!
