            VERY nice this assortment, comngratulations! The Pistole 08 is quite stunning, but even more mabe the camo (Mimikri) helmet........you see many more WW1 Lugers than a nice and original camo Helmet from WW1. I think even in value the helmet might beat the luger.

                A very nice early 1913 Erfurt without stock lug and with one correct matching magazine. I think you need to address both the steel and leather with some long overdue maintenance.

                  A very nice and desirable rig you have there! It's always nice to see something with a family history. I'm glad to see you're not a Canadian resident as the pistol, from what I understand, would have to be deactivated if you resided there. You might want to post that helmet over on the helmet forum.

                    Does it have a hold-open since it is about mid 1913 production? The hold-open was specified in May of 1913.

                          No details, as a number of captured items were in among the many items of his long military career.

                          Will post more information on the contents of his war-time field chest, in which he stored a great many mementos, as time permits.

                            I wish I still had the pistols brought back by my Great grandpa (was in europe and brought back a ton of rifles, I have one currently and I know where another one is) and the M1 brought back by my other great grandpa (he was in the Army and was a medic and was in the pacific)

                              An eraly Erfurt rig like this is very desirable by itself, let alone one with such story! I' gald it stayed with the family for so many years!

                                Just to clarify, in Canada, not every Luger has to be deactivated if you have the appropriate classification on your firearms licence. I own several fully functional and all matching P08 pistols.
