                    So the receiver is a dummy? If that is the case, I think it is probably worth the $850 he is asking (if the barrel is good). I think the sling may be a K98 sling, and that alone (as long as there are no cracks and it isn't totally dried out) is probably worth about $100.

                          Comparing it to my Class 3. It looks good. If barrel and other parts are in very good condition, the parts are worth the money alone.

                            the barrel is not a first type!!
                            this MP40 is an erma but on the barrel i can see the waffenamt WaA623 (steyr)!
                            it is a problem for me!!

                              Funny old world isn't it!
                              In the UK we are so restricted on the availability of firearms (legitimate collectors that is) and yet we can buy an MP40 deact with all its original parts and matching numbers (if you search) for far less than the $850 asked for this mismatched gun with a dummy receiver!
                              On the flipside of the coin there's no Knob Creek (what a lovely name!) with live MG firing - swings and roundabouts!
