    Single Rune K98 Kriegsmodell

I was wandering, are there any known single rune k98's (BNZ 4) Kriegsmodell examples? Without the bayonet plug.

    Thanks in advance.

I have never seen one, and from all indicators the single rune rifles were done before the Kriegsmodell was introduced. I wouldn't say it's "impossible" for such a rifle to exist, but I would be extremely suspicious if I was offered one. The rifle would have to stand on it's own merits, that's for sure.

Thanks for your help. I know the bolt and the barrel/receiver etc matches. It looks like the stock has been on the gun for a very long time. Any opinions? I saw this one for sale quote some time ago, I got these (not very detailed) pictures from the seller:

Also, the model 98 text is quite rudely written, really late-war I guess.

In my opinion that is not the stock that was on that rifle when it was built. From the looks of it, that is an earlier bnz4 single rune rifle (serial on receiver is a feature of 43-early 44 production). Plus, the barrel code is from early 44.

So I would say stock is replaced. Stock also appears to be from a dou44/dou45 rifle.

I would be surprised if the bolt is the original bolt as well- the bolt sleeve appears to be postwar Czech, phosphate safety is wrong on it as well.

I agree with Mike. Stock is not a full Kriegsmodell stock, and does not appear to be the correct stock for this rifle either.
The phosphate safety also sticks out as incorrect for this rifle.

Off the top of my head I can't recall ever seeing a full Kriegmodell single rune. I agree with Mike, that I believe these were made before the kriegsmodell was introduced.

Thanks for the help guys! I agree on the savety lever. Though unmarked K98 bolts can be original ww2, am I right? Many parts on the gun aren't marked when I look at the pictures.
Maybe I want to restore the rifle with a proper stock en proper safety lever, do you guys think it's worth doing?

            I need a 1943/1944 dated BNZ stock, I pressume?
