One question: In the bolt, does the pin release botton have a spring that makes it go back to place?

I rarely see parts for these. found a barrel years ago , but was priced @ $350.00 , so never entered my collection.
very interesting on knowing the differences between this & the basic mg 34, Thanks for giving out those details.

Bolt Question

I have not seen a drawing of the bolt if any exist. I have not wanted to take the bolt apart for rear that I might break something or be unable to reassemble it.

Hello Michaelangelo,

It is not difficult to dismount....I will try to shoot some pics for you. It is easier than the MG34 bolt and ha far less pieces. To dismount the pin you would need a special tool but you can do it with some pliers ( a bit conplicated due to the strength of the spring). I have the intention of making the propper tool but not toomuch spare time.


I found some I had:

#1: if you press the botton in the back of the bolt, you can turn the bolt head 1/4 and will come out smoothly.

#2: to remove the pin is a bit more difficult due to the special tool needed, but should dismount in three parts. (this pic is credited to K.W.)

34S Bolt

Carles,

Are the firing pin, firing pin spring and the small end piece the same as
those in the MG34 bolt?

Hello,

The pin and locking piece are different but the spring seems to fit in well. The locking piece of a regular MG34 will fit in the MG34S/41 bolt but is slightly longer. Anyhow, I don't think it is a problem and would also work well.

Bolt Parts

Thanks for the pictures and descriptions of the parts. It stoo bad that bolt of yours was on the ground so long. It is like my two 34 S n.a. They were marked three ways: 34S, 34S n.a., and 34/41. I have included a 34/41 marked bolt picture. I have not yet seen one marked 34S.

The 34/41 bolt was in Munich and sold for much more than I was willing to pay for a bolt with a ground front end.

MG34/41 Top Cover

I am using a CNC machinist to make the second MG34/41 top cover. The top surface is nearly done. I will get pictures soon. I was told that it looks good.
