    MG34 Please HELP (Part II)

Just received this set from a dealer. Paid over 900 (with shipping) but can return it with "No questions asked".
I always liked MG34 and it is my first one. So it is hard for me to decide.. Should I keep it or let it go and find a better set?
    • No internal parts (except barrel).
    • Bluing on external parts is good, about 80-90%.
    • The barrel is bad (with corrosion).
    • Original numbers/mfg marks are scratched offs
    • Parts are marked with new numbers.
    • Numbers are no matching.

    Thank you in advance.
P.S. Can you tell me please if the all parts are WW2 German?

    1. Light rust but I believe is easy-removable

        3. New numbers.
No original markings are on these two parts. Is it common/alright?

                7. Bakelite grips are ”well-scratched”.

                        Mg 34 markings

                        Hi Bnz
Your kit is a little bit mix and match and mabe a little expensive for the condition but ive seen parts kits on USA sites going for a lot more , the parts all apear to be german ww2 ,the markings on the muzzle booster are clearly post war added , my own two UK de act 34s are waffenampt on this part but thats all , but this is found more so on earler weapons and pieces from 43 onwards sometimes do not have these markings and on mg42s usually never at all
If you decide to keep your Mg adding a little cold bluing could make the electro pencil markings a little less obvious.

the marking dpr(grossfuss)on your top cover is a fairly common mid to late sub contractor code and would not be out of place on a 42- 45 period weapon as grossfuss never manufactured complete weapons only parts, many people think their mg42s are miss matched because of this when they are not.

the grips even though worn are the correct ww2 German these often have post war aluminium grips (my friend just paid $2000 on a 34 with the panzermantle armoured barrel jacket and these aluminium grips were on it)
Your barrel is of a different manufacturer than the rest of the weapon (I think you allready mentioned this) its marked CRA (maget waffenfabrik) and the Mg is a DOT (waffenwerke brunn) as dot are the most common 34s to get on the collectors market I think you could easily get your hands on a dot marked barrel as they seem plentyfull and cheapish in the USA. a better condition barrel would improve the look no end.

One thing for sure wether you keep this one or seek a different Mg I hope you get the same buzz from yours as mine gives me

                        Regards
                        Sean

Here is one for almost half what you paid for that one:

I'm not sure about how the quality on these are though. I bought some small stuff from them a few years ago and it was pretty good.

                            Thank you for your replies
Since prices vary from a few hundreds to a few thousands, I will probably keep this set even if I overpaid a little bit.. The most important thing is that the all parts are original and mostly in good condition.
Sean, I agree with you MG34 is a beautiful gun

P.S. I can’t figure out is it 1943 or 1945? Looks like 43 but the dealer said 45
