German 8cm Mortar

Hello all,

I have an 8cm mortar. The Sight, Bipod and Base Plate are original and a repro barrel.

1. For display purposes, where can I find an original barrel?(and how much)
2. What other accessories would I need? I assume that I will need a muzzle cover and cleaning kit at the very minimum.

Any help would be greatly apperciated!

Hi Paul,
With a 8cm barrel, you are going to run into some federal laws. In the states, it is considered a "destructive device" and all kinds of complications can develope, however it is not impossible to have one. You can almost forget bringing one home from overseas. If you find one stateside, it will have to have been deactivated as per BATF rules, or one that has been legally registered, with appropriate paperwork. These type items can be a real chore to comply with federal law unless you find a deactivated one. Since I doubt you are wanting to launch live mortar rounds, even finding a deactivated barrel will be hard. I don't think a lot of them were brought home as souvenirs.
I recomend you contact BATF for current rules(they sometimes change) and ask around on all the collector boards such as this.

Thank you for your reply. I do understand about the barrel. Although I do not intend on placing a mortar barrage anytime soon, it would be great to have an original barrel...even demilled...to display. I do have a repro, but it just is not the same. I am look not only for a barrel, but also for an oringal tool kit, cleaning kit, muzzel cover, and any other accessories I might be missing to make a complete set.

Have you ever seen any of the above listed?
