    mp40 on e-stand

    hi everyone,
there is a de-activated mp40 on e-stand. It is in germany and he says that he can ship to any eu country. I am sure that if customs from the uk catch it, they will hold it and either destroy it or send it back , as even though it has been de-activated, they are still not allowed in the country. Am i right or wrong on this matter, as i am quite interested in purchasing it. Any advice on this matter would be most helpfull.

    many thanks,
    belinda

Hi Belinda, you cannot import this!

Even though we are in the EU, any non British deact needs a firearms licence. HM Customs will treat it as LIVE. You will get 10 years.

    Cheers, Ade.

many thanks for the advice Ade,
I will just have to wait until one comes up over here, but sadly they want around £2000 for one here.
I have seen a couple of firearms over in ireland. Are they allowed from there, or is it the same that you need a firearms licence to have them sent to the uk?

      regards,
      belinda

Only legal here if it is proof marked stamped in the UK at either Birmingham or London proof house, plus with deact cert.

        Cheers, Ade.

You could get it shipped as live to a UK RFD and get it de-activated to UK spec - although the total cost might be prohibitive.

If you want a good supplier of UK de-acs try Googling 1) DWSUK and 2) Arundel Militaria. I can recommend both - very good service and they don't sell rubbiish.

The latter quite regularly sells MP40s - old and new spec. Old are usually about £2000 - they sell very quickly inspite of the price.

            Good hunting

many thanks richie for your help.
I have heard of ryton arms as that is where i bought my P38 from, but i haven't heard of the other two sites that you have mentioned. I will check them out.

              regards,
