The 7.65 mm Luger Parabellum is also known as the .30 Luger.

7.65 mm Browning rounds are .32, don't ask me why I just collect this stuff!

I love how there are top caliber collectors on this forum.

            simply amazing stuff.

I appreciate that you take the time to photo and share them instead of just hiding them away greedily. LOL

              I'm confused myself.

wouldn't Walther who made this pistol be more likely to use the 7.65 m/m that is in all their other 7.65 mm pistols which would be .32 ? how would someone know to chamber the .30 luger 7.65 m/m and not the 7.65 m/m .32?

To the owner it is self explanetory as the magazine is for a 9mm cartridge. The .32 ACP is a much smaller round and would bounce around inside the magazine body.

                  great

Thanks for letting us see and learn. I have never been able to hold one of these in 25 years of collecting Axis pistols.

                    ?

                    ok, now i'm really lost.

does this hp shoot a 7.65 m/m like th rounds you put in a walther pp or ppk, etc?

or is it a different length than those, but same width?

Ok: Lets try to take a slightly different approach to answering this question. The 9mm Luger round is basically a straight sided cartridge with, you got it, a 9mm bullet. The 30(7.65) Luger round is about the same overall length as the 9mm luger and the base of both cartridges is the same size. However the case for the 30 Luger is tapered down to use a 7.65mm bullet. This allows for use of the same magazine in both calibers.

Jim is correct! The .30 Luger cartridge has a bottle-necked case. Most of the 1923 Commercial Luger pistols fire this cartridge. Take a look at the 7.63 Mauser or Tokarev TT33 cartridge to get an idea of what it looks like.
Check this - scroll down to the second picture and read the description to the right. Note the comment about the cartridge feeding and firing in the C96 pistol. Definately not recommended! Also, this cartridge will feed and fire in the T14 Nambu pistol - again not recommended.
