Hello;
Need a little help with info, and direction please. Had a person ask if I would be interested in looking at, and making an offer on a couple of pieces from a collection they had purchased.
One was a M1 carbine, and the other was something they referred to as a "Duffy training rifle". Looked for reference to the Duffy here, and online, but can't seem to pin that one down. Would there be a specific manufacturer name that would be on that type piece, or did more than one company make these? The seller, whom I will see next week, said he believed both rifles were of WWll vintage, and military. My first impression was that he was talking about a duffle bag cut rifle.
Any suggestions on the basic things to look for, and ask about in either the M1, or the "Duffy" like how to figure out if these are WWll time frame, markings, numbers, etc before making an offer, and what a fair price to offer, based on those suggestions, and condition would be , would be appreciated.
I will try to post pics for reference, once I have a chance to see these in the flesh.
Thanks for any help in advance.
Dave
