    Help needed with pistol.

    Hello,

I got this pistol when I bought my MG34.The previous owner said it was English, but I heard this would be a French Lefaucheux pistol from around 1850.
Is this correct? It isn't in the best shape anymore, doesn't work anymore, but howmuch value has it?I know absolutely nothing about this,so any help would be very welcome.

    Thank you.
    All the best,Jeremy

btw,I can't find any markings on it.

              Pin Fire System Revolver

It is a French Lefaucheux pin fire or Belgian Pin fire revolver ..BILL

With that finish it might have spent some time underground, or in a collection that was not properly cared for. Does the firing pin work and the cylinder go through its cycle?

That revolver would not have a firing pin as it is a pinfire. The pin as it was is contained (protrudes actually) from the cartridge case.

It is in rough condition, but for a 150 year old gun I've seen a lot worse.

So what you are saying is that instead of the hammer driving the firing pin to the cartridge the hammer just strikes the cartridge? Do they still make ammunition like that?

The firing pin is a part of the cardridge, affixed at the rim (right-angled to the longitudinal axis of the cartridge) and it strikes the primer inside the case.
The cardridges are obsolete since circa 60 years but You can reload them with very much effort.

Thank you all for your replys

The pistol does not fit in my collection,so if anyone is interested in it,PM me.
I always want to trade it also,as I have no idea at all how much this is worth.

If anyone has an idea, please let me know.

The pistol does not work anymore, the trigger is loose.

                        All the best,
                        Jeremy
