    Import help

My cousin who lives in Germany recently found the rusted remains of a WWII German Mauser. It's mostly just the barrel and receiver but it is not useable. How would I go about importing this here to the United States? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You will have to find an importer and do all of that fun paperwork with the importer, have the put an import stamp on it, then have the importer transfer it to your FFL to transfer to you. Import fees generally run at least $100-$200 by the time everything is done. You can likely find a nice Yugoslavian or Russian import for around that same price. It is more than likely not worth it to import if it is a 98k unless exceedinly rare.

Thanks for the information. I just thought it would be neat to obtain as it came off of a battlefield. Would the FFL still be required as it is in relic condition? It is definitely unserviceable.

If it is indeed "relic" it can be shipped.

It can be a hassle if as described to be honest and certainly not cost efficent.

As I understand US laws, as long as there is a receiver, it must be shipped to an FFL. If it was everything but the receiver, it could be shipped directly to you, but the presence of a receiver means you must have it shipped to an FFL.
