I am an amateur at this SS dagger thing, but to me the all over age consistency and lack of any new parts points to it being genuine . However I would wait for the others to chip in. Rob

From what I can see looks original except with painted scabbard. Looks like it could be a period repaint. The blade may have been re-tipped but it could also just be the angle of the photo. Blade is a mess, unfortunately.

I tend to agree with Skyline Drive's opinions. This looks like an early and original piece from the Munich SS Distribution Center. While "The blade is a mess, unfortunately," the grip is in better condition than many an early SS Standard Service Dagger, with the ebony in very good shape -- I don't see any serious cracks or chips in the wood. The harness appears original, as well.

While the dagger condition is rough and does show its age, it
seems to be an original with plenty of character.
I like the look of it. Congratulations, cool piece.

Listed for $2000. Didn't sell. Went to look a second time, sold for $1800.
