Very nice example...I just got this one myself and it is my 3rd etched bayonet in the past 3 months. It is most certainly an issue now and it is not helped by my "friend" Chet who has been bitten by the same bug.

As someone mentioned, similar to Klaas design. As I understand it Puma and Robert Klaas had some professional rivalry over who whose intellectual property the swirling "bookends" belonged to. One reason Puma has patented this design.
