    Peter,

The WKC Officer degen that I'm familiar with has a partially drilled quillon on both sides of the crossguard.
A officer WKC 'SS' type degen will also 'usually' sport a white blade buffer.
Also most 'officer' type swords wil have a Stepped-Up base to Pommel on crossguard.
See below here for a example on Witty's site.

That said; WKC did make a non quillon drilled crossguard as seen in this NCO WKC Police degen: http://www.wwiidaggers.com/37437.htm

The NCO hilts by WKC didn't have (as far as I know) a Stepped-Up crossguard base.

Also the troddel shown is not the Officer version as shown in the last two period pix on the link.

What does that all mean? I can't tell for sure, as I'm not a sword expert, but from what I see there seems to be some explaining required on this example IMO.

I would wait for more opinions.

I agree with what Serge said and that it’s a little strange but I also believe that the degen probably came from the factory in this configuration. The knot is nice but I don’t believe it belongs on this type of degen and is most likely a recent addition. With all that in mind along with the condition of the degen the price seems on the high side.
