    1936 Chained dagger- New purchase

Hey collectors! Here is a new addition to my collection. A collector is selling his inventory due to age and health. Here is one of the items I bought. It was originally purchased from Johnson Reference Books. I am not much of a dagger person, but we both think we got a good deal.

    Thanks,

    Robert

Thanks Franco. I thought it was also considering it came from JRB.

Maybe it's just the image resolution/lighting, but the new images don't seem to help as much as I thought they might. Any chance for some better ones with also the dagger and center mount? FP

The chain could be a problem. The wotan's knot link connectors. Burnishing looks off to me.

              Wait for other opinions.

I don't like the connectors to the Wotanknot.
They have not the correct shape and they look to new.
                Maybe they're modern replacements.
The rest of the links are definitly original but the burnishing looks kinda odd...

The list I think can be added to, and if it's to be put up sale needs a much better closeup look at the complete package (IMO) FP

Thanks for your opinions. Is it possible it was restored from other original parts of a 1936 SS dagger? It came with the original case and invoice.

                    Thanks,
                    Robert

Maybe it's just the imaging, or bad lighting, digital artifacts etc. but regrettably using the latest photos I'm not a fan of what I seem to be seeing. After doing all sorts of image manipulations to try and examine the details, and comparisons with what I consider to be reference examples. My sense of the chainset is severely abused and very possibly postwar, with the dagger hilt parts probably zinc (later) construction. FP

Agree with Krikke and Serge on the obsevations of two Wotanknot connectors . Their shapes are off, taperings are straight and sharp.

                        Regards,

                        Will
