A perfectly fine original early two ring scabbard sword which dates prior to WWI. IMO value is anywhere between $400-$700 -
It is a Prussian Model 1852 cavalry saber, unit marked to the 1st Squadron of "Hessian Train Battalion #11". Scabbard and sword are matched to that unit, with a nice blue panel to that unit as well.Last edited by Willi Z.; 07-03-2018, 06:50 AM.Willi

Don't know anything about the unit other than it was a supply train battalion. Apparently in 1902 "Hessisches" was changed to "Kurhessiches", so that makes it earlier than 1902.Willi

My guess would be a 1890s timeframe. I have a number of them marked to Garde units, and I think they are in that timeframe as well.Willi

An EM Train-Extrasäbel off duty dress model, the Prussian (supply) Train units received re-purposed government issue M1852 sabers where it became their standard issue saber. The 1890's to the early pre-WWI period a good guesstimate for the time period (IMO). FPComment
