I believe only certain leaders were disbanded. The organization lived on.

dont know where he gets 1944 from, imo the blade is marked 1941. Dont think any sa daggers where produced in 1944.
BUT whats fun with this dagger is that the blade seems chromed, thats not very usual. A regular blade you can polish and polish and polish,,,,,......It could be dirt, but sure looks lie plateloss,...hmm checked a little closer, this dagger must have been in contact with water, the scababrd is corroded as well. IMO not worth more than the current amount.

They were formed into the Feldherrenhalle division.

Hi Gary, indeed the Division was formed from SA men, but perhaps it should be made clear that the SA were not transfered wholesale into the Army.

            Cheers, Ade.

I have read that the SA transformed in something almost like Civil Defense. And existed probably until the very end of the war, you have seen those M44 Gladiator helmets with the SA decals.

After the leadership purge the SA did little until WW2, when it was assigned military training functions & non-military security such as the Landwacht.

The SA remained a huge organization until the end of the war in 1945. They continued with most of the same functions (other than street fighting to protect the NSDAP speakers and territory). The Feldherrnhalle military unit grew out of the core of the SA group, but was only a tiny percentage of the body of the SA. RZM SA blades were produced until 1941 or 42 (I can't remember offhand) but production stopped around that time as it did for most dress daggers and swords.

Crystal night was the beginning of organized pograms against Jews. The "night of the long knives" was the purge of the SA by the SS.

The SA purge, "Night of the Long Knives" began June 30, 1934 - not in 1933.

That's correct--a relatively small percentage of SA high leaders were eliminated (there is no list of those removed that has survived, but realistic estimates are 100-200), but most survived the event and continued in their positions afterwards. The SS was removed as an organization under SA control and became an independent entity.
The SA continued to exist, although it was made clear that they would not become the kernel of the new army, as they had expected.
