    Garbage?

Hello, I am relatively new here and I am definately new to third reich edged weapons. While my collection is growing, I have yet to own a dagger or a sword for that matter. I found this for sale, and from what I have learned here, it appears to be (fantasy) garbage. Am I correct? Any help is much appreciated.

    Micheal,

It's not a fantasy piece. It's a second model RLB (Reichsluftschutzbund) subordinate dagger. Can you show a clear, straight on picture of the makers mark?

    Thanks,

    Tony

It's somewhat hard to determine the condition based on these photos, but this is a fairly rare dagger.

Thanks for my education!! I'll try to get better photos. I know these pics are bad, but a rough estimate of value would be great.

          Hi
          Check out these links..

The first linkn is an officers dagger not a subordinates dagger like you have, I dont know what the price difference is but this gives you some idea. The 2nd link is an enlisted mans. Of course condirion plays into the value.

Scroll thru this site. He has a few 2nd model RLB enlisted mans daggers.

Look at Item # RLBEM -006. It is your makers mark for $1595.

Let me know where you throw your garbage out

Price depends on condition, but based on the photos, the value would be somewhere around $1200.

It looks original based on the photos. I think you all are generous on the value due to enamel damage, blade condition which drive value. RLB, the most art deco of the daggers and uncommon are still not fast movers to begin with. I would be surprised if this would bring $1000 in this condition. IMO the ones on dealer sites will not fly off the shelves at that price, same goes generally for TeNo officer, Postschutz and DRK officer.

Thank you all very much. I'll post some more photos of the blade tonight. I learn something new everytime I log on here.

I once had a well known dealer tell me he pays his pickers .70 on the dollar. So I usually look at their prices as a 30 % premium to get a better idea of value.

Michael,If you bought this dagger ,when and if ,you go to clean the blade be very careful around the trademark as this makers mark will come off very easily.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't purchased this dagger yet. I was saving up for a nice SS. This is the best shot I have of the maker's mark for right now. I've asked for more photos but haven't heard back from the seller.

Stick with Plan A...you'll be much better off with a nice SS dagger than a 2nd Model RLB EM in this condition.

                        Best,
