    Knot Identification Help for Opinions

Mounted on this Short Dress Bayonet iwth SS personalization markings, I wonder if this knot is also SS related.

It has a grey leather strap and is silver colored with black cap.

Any thoughts, information, or opinions would be much appreciated.

          Bayonet Knot

This bayonet has several markings and engravings. SS - O. Scha. H. Meier marked the ricasso, back of grip, and frog with his name, rank, and unit number. Attached are photos.

Besides identification of the accroutements, I am wondering if the hand engraving is original and real.

Thanks for any info and opinions.

Question is even a dress KS98 also owner piece, why would be repeat the name on 2 places of bayonet on blade and on spine of handle, i have too problem with the unit designation. b.r.Andy

Not the first postwar (IMO) rotary engraved (as from a Dremel type tool) supposed "SS" bayonet, I've seen others that were sometimes even more elaborate. Not that it made them any more legitimate. FP

An excellent observation , that follows the oftentimes used fakers practice of adding on more TR era symbology to try and mislead prospective purchasers. FP

When looking on the complet on first pictures there is certainly not correct frog attached as the bayonet is very high positioned in the frog because the frog hook of scabbard is lower positioned on scabbard body. it would be nice to see the whole bayonet without frog, same as the frog in single position.b.r.Andy
