    Early Sa Haenel ?

I like to have some opinions about this early sa dagger. The first time I had it in my hands the first thought I had was that the weight wasn't ok. I put it on a balance and there was a difference of +/- 10% with my other early sa daggers. I don't have a problem with the dagger but i have a problem with the scabbard. I think the fittings are not nickel-silver but rzm. My conclusion is that the scabbard is not early but that is my opinion. I like to have yours opinions about this piece. Thanks in advance. If somebody wants extra pictures, no problems just ask.

Yes you can clearly see the difference between the duller crossguards and shinny scabbard fittings.

      Best Russ.

I think you got a point and when you put this scabbard in line with the early anodized versions, I guess you will see differences.

The scabbard looks like a later painted/plated version. As far as the weight goes, I have seen SA daggers that have had the scabbard weight removed. A dagger will not hang properly from a short hanger without the weight. However, the weight may have been period removed if the dagger was carried in a vertical hanger.

I also have seen SA daggers with the scabbard weight removed. This was my first thought about the weight. But the scabbard fittings just don't match for me. My opinion is that the scabbard is a painted/plated = rzm scabbard and not a early one. Thanks for the comments, All appriciated.
