Hi David, nice to hear that you are finding stuff

The sword is original, but in my opinion rather tired. I would only buy it if it was priced much less than £350. I suspect for the same money you could obtain a much better example from the USA, what with the strength of the £ at the moment.

The eagle has lost it's silver finish which seems to be a common trait; so nothing to worry about there.

          Cheers, Ade.

Yes totally original, but the blade is the heart of these swords in my opinion and that aint got it ! I will be selling a 41" police officers sword by Alcoso with a mirror finish blade in the next week or so for a few £ less. The eagle is also bronze. For some reason I would say the officers eagle usually is found bronzed but the EM seems to come in silvered ,strange.

Thats because the eagles on officer swords are indeed made with bronze eagles and the nco's with silver eagles.

I believe the police officer grip insignia were copper alloy w/ light silver wash, most of which has oxydized over the years. Senior NCO swords had a white metal alloy. Not sure if any silver in it as I have never seen any tarnishing on them. Some years ago some "reference" book started an urban legend by writing that the "bronze" eagles were intended for Fire Police.

On the good side, this is a very rare maker. On the other side I have one in a little less condition for 350 dollars. The only reason I have mine is because of the rarity of the maker. In my opinion this is a bit overpriced. Because of condition and the scarcity of the maker it may be worth 400-500.

                  Best Wishes,

                  Bob
