Police 84/98III Bayonet

    Police 84/98III Bayonet

    Commercial Police contract 84/98III (98k bayonet) manufactured by (ALCOSO) (ACS Scales) the commercial logo for Alexander Coppel of Solingen, STAR F on blade spine denoting police ownership.. The frog which has been with the bayonet since WW2 and is is a brown Austrian M95 style frog with a Germanic BP on the back of the frog.. I do not know the meaning of the BP...any Ideas? Enjoy BILL

                bill my guess is since it is a police bayonet the P could mean Polezei?

                  Bill, since the acceptance stamp indicates Prussian police or perhaps pre-1936 national police, I would say there is an equal chance the letters on the frog are of Austrian origin? One guess would be Bereitschafts Polizei. But that is such a generic term and there is no property number. Likewise is the interpretation Bayerische Polizei.

                  Is the letter on the back of the blade a true F or is it a partial strike B? Also, push the mortise lock and check for a serial number on the bottom of the opposite side as it protrudes out the side of the hilt.

                      Hello BILL, nice piece, i assume that the screws are in turned position, the frog stud speaks for late 1939 production so its possibility that the bard is more for AWS piece? or for one of the latest ACS, the frog looks for me a s austrian, it is interesting that both letters have various size ? P could be for polizei. best regards,Andy
