          A couple things:
1- Alcoso did, IMHO etch some late was blades w. their maker mark.
2- I've never seen a navy blade marked with the forgers mark like this.
3- It just strikes me as odd that the forgers mark was stamped after the tang was ground down to accept the brass plate. I would expect this would be done in assembly not at the forgers...
4- Finally note how much fewer replies one gets when asking the originality of a single component like in this case a blade.
Save yourself heartache and expense and buy whole complete daggers that are real from reputable sources.
This trend I'm seeing of guys piecing out complete daggers on Ebay is nothing but greed.

You are correct about CAH as the mark of Carl August Hartkopf, a Solingen blade smithy that provided forged blade blanks to various makers. Most notably Carl Eickhorn.
Having said that, the CAH tang mark is usually raised and not incuse. As mentioned previously I too have never seen this mark on a naval blade. Not sure what to make of it but I would be wary about it.
What does the rest of the dagger look like. The fittings, scabbard, etc....

I own several blades with the Hartkopf tang marking including an RZM SA dagger & an Eickhorn NPEA chained leader dagger.

The marks are raised as Tony states & not stamped like the originally posted KM blade. I've never seen a KM blade with the mark not have I ever seen a Hartkopf mark stamped. Of course, this is not the least bit dispositive as to the items veracity or not but based on what I'm seeing, I would agree with Paul. Stick with complete items from reputable sources.

The late Alcoso co logo etch is a modern repro. If closely compared to a original you'll see the difference.

                Note: This is a original

Are you sure Wags, the etch does look correct for Alcoso and check out the maker mark on the one in Lakesidetrader archives. 2nd model naval daggers NA-12279.

Perhaps difference between ASC and ASW standard?

Found another one in Danny's collection on warrelics forum. I think this blade is original but have not got a clue about the CAH.

There's no question that Alcoso used this last style of Maker logo on Navy daggers. However, I never liked the etched ASW version on a Navy dagger, especially when they used the stamped version, which is also slightly different in design. But that's 'just me', the other one maybe fine, just not for me. Looks like perhaps Alcoso then used for a short period a stamped and etched version of their last logo on navy daggers blades. doesn't make much sense, but I've seen stranger oddities that seem illogical but are none the less 'period original'.
Perhaps I am mistaken on this one. If so, I'm still learning too.
