Question from a dagger dummy who just owns two:

-The hanger is marked Assmann, the blade is by Böker. Does that mean the hanger was added lateron or is it ok to have hanger and blade from different makers on an untouched piece?

        Cheers, Frank H.

Assman made hangers for the different manufacturers. From what I understand, this is desirable. My SA dagger has an Assman - DRGM marked clip. Maybe one of the resident experts could tell us if Assman made ALL the early clips?

I don't think Assmann made daggers and I don't think Boker made hangers?

                  Ralph & G.J.B.,

Thanks for that info. I hope I do NOT gain more interest in this field of collecting

My Emil Voos 1st model Luftwaffe dagger has a pot metal clip marked A DRGM, same as found on Postschutz daggers.

The pictures show an excellent example of a correct, early vintage dagger & hanger. The Assman marked clip is perfectly fine as they (Assman) was a manufacturer of metal parts (i.e., clips, buckles, snaps, etc.) as well as badges & insignia. They sold them to accoutermeny manufacturers who added the leather or fabric to complete the hangers. Absolutely no poroblem with Assman marked hanger(s) an any dagger from the period.

Really great dagger, by the way...I'll always love the early ones best. My first was a vet-purchased SS em by Bertram Reinh & Sonh (the Hen & Rooster Trademark is still inuse today!) complete with vertical hanger in absolutely perfect condition

                      Best,
