Greetings, could anyone kindly direct me to a good online reference (or threads) on Luftwaffe daggers? I have a couple of Johnson books, but as you know they are more picture books without a lot of information. I'm attending a show fairly soon and want to come armed with as knowledge as possible.

Tom Whittmann's book, EXPLORING THE DRESS DAGGERS OF THE GERMAN LUFTWAFFE, has everything you should need on the subject.

You can try this site http://www.lakesidetrader.com/ He gives interesting descributions with his 16 luftwaffes he has currently for sale.
And there is also the Thomas Wittmann book "Exploring the daggers of the German Luftwaffe".


You got a lot to learn if you wanna know much about this type of daggers. The different maker marks, the types of finish used on the scabbard and fittings, grip types and common and rare makers to name a few things.

Thank you both. I looked at the wittmann book. Not a terrible price; I may pick it up. I love the Lakesidetrader site. I bought my first dagger from Paul H., a WKC army. Top notch dealer and probably the only one I trust completely.
