Weimar era Eickhorn Model 1889 degen

    Hi guys.....

Here's something you don't see everyday.
It's a Weimar era model 1889 degen by the Carl Eickhorn firm.
This model differs from the Imperial era 89s with no imperial symbols on the eagle and no grip monogram. The Eickhorn trademark is one used in the interwar period.

    Comments welcome. Enjoy.

Very nice piece. I believe the makers mark makes it around the 1905 date frame. Love those single ovals!!

In my opinion the maker mark would date this around 20 years later than 1905, somewhere in the mid 1920's I think, nice sword and rarely seen from this date.

A very nice sword, scarcely seen. Here is another from the early TR period - a gift from a grandmother on her grandson being commissioned for 20.4.1935. I guess she was a conservative lady.

A traditional sword blessing and a proud grandmother's personal dedication.

Very nice, and very scarce, Weimar Republic period IOD swords.

Thanks Gary!! Got my back to back and single ovals reversed. The single oval in books i've read started around 1921. They sure did have a bunch.

Congratulations to both on some very hard to find swords, the one from Barry is an exceptionally nice example. Best Regards, Fred
