      Thank you all for your input. I will see if I can track down some history on this and hopefully another one will turn up in the future. It's fun and exciting to find a piece such as this, even with so many questions that remain to be answered.

        what a coincidence.....ANOTHER ALUMINUM GUARDED M33. Cool! Notice the disparity in the appearance of the scabbard fittings and crossguards-same as we see here. A rare pair!
