    Boot knife maker mark

Hello, I have a luft. Boot knife with the eagle L6 marking, checked thru old threads and have found lots of info. but no actual producer of the L6 marking on this type of knife, would anybody know the maker of this boot knife. Not a big deal, just trying to find out who made this knife. Thanks in advance for any info.

        Hi !

It´s an Luftwaffe acceptance mark, not a maker´s mark !
Some of this pattern knives are stamped with an "S", or, an "W" upon the blade.
Some collectors estimate, these are abbreviations for manufaturers, but it´s not confirmed, as far as I know.

        Best regards,
        R.

Reibert-Austria, I'm glad you pointed that out, just looked at my first pattern luft. dagger made by SMF solingen, and guess what !! a eagle L5 acceptance mark. Some threads talked about the L6 mark being rarer than the L5 mark? This I have no clue about. Thanks for the correction. Sounds like very little info. on these markings.

          Best Regards,
          Dale B

            Dale, I cannot confirm.
You can find such acceptance marks on dagger´s, also on other stuff, (for example, on flare pistols, also on equipment).
BTW, some "Luft Zwo" are showing this mark, other´s not ...

Here my Kampfmesser der Wehrmacht Luftwaffe for comparison.

            Best regards,
            R.

Great display Reibert-Austria. Thanks for taking the time, photos and information. Kampfmesser looks to be in very good condition, a lot like mine, only different acceptance marks.

              Best Regards
