    Navy dagger ID?

    Hello all,

Can anyone please identify this Frankenstein for me, what is the cross guard from with a winged propeller? Looks like a Navy dagger without an engraved blade with a replaced pommel. Yugoslavian?

    Hi William,
The Balkans are a good clue when it comes to a crossguard. I think Yugoslavia or Greece but it can also be the Imperial German navy pilot(known examples have a propeller without wings). I have to admit that I've never seen identical crossguard. Other parts are typical for TR period KM dagger: unmarked, plain blade, Holler grip, Weyersberg or Puma scabbard. It would be good to see detailed pictures of pommel and crossguard from both sides.

    Regards
    Jakub

Yes, Yugoslav Navy dagger is M1917 Austro-Hungarian type but whether there was another model for naval pilots?

Called the Prussian aviator's dagger. I found something on Wittman's site that mentioned Imperial Naval pilots but the photo can't be enlarged to see the details:

            http://www.johnsonreferencebooks.com...-pilots-dagger

here is another example I found but has an engraved blade:

            with plain blade:

question is; who can sell me the correct pommel for this Imperial dagger?

                Nope.

                Model of Yugoslavia Kingdom navy daggers: M 1924/33, M.1924/1, M 1924/2 type 1, M.1924/1 type 2, M 1924/3, M 1924/5 and M 1939.
No one has a these type of crossguard.

Daggers form Austro-hungarian Empire are big enigma.
