The SS dagger is now landed in my collection, have taken a new picture with the SS dienst number, which is 14181

Is it really true, that in modern world, there is no internet database, where you can look up the number?

Yes, it is true. There is many things you can't find on Internet. "Modern World" is not that almighty as one may think. Dienstalterliste is available, but it's just a part of evidence. Sometimes it really needs several hours of study and searching thru the various archive files to find the person matching with a number. There are few guys specialised in it and they make it very well, but as I said it's lot of work and it's not a cheap service.
