    Luftwaffe daggers gilt

Are there only certain Luftwaffe dagger makers which gilt was applied to the swastica?
If this is true, what makers are they.

    Thanks,
    Tony

I asked a similar question recently and the answer (from another WAF member and dagger collector I might add) is yes only a few makers used gilt swastikas. One was SMF, considered to be among the best LW dagger makers I am told.

Eickhorn also applied gilt to the swastika.

Also Höller and Anton Wingen Jr. And some others have, according to Wittmann, a gilt finish that is turned black over the years (WKC for example).

I have also heard that only some of the 2nd Model LW makers applied gilding to the pommel swastikas, though I haven't seen a comprehensive list of those makers. I wonder whether this uneven gilding was also done with the 1st Model LWs, though I doubt that that was the case...?

                Thanks for the help guys
My initial post was pointed at 2nd model Luftwaffe daggers, just to clarify.

Here's a compilation of the makers from the responses.

                SMF
                Eickhorn
                Weyersberg
                Höller
                Anton Wingen Jr.
                WKC

Anymore that could be added to the list?

I think you guys are trying to nail this down by maker but this is not the case. Many makers used generic pommels with gilt.
IMHO you will tend to find gilt pommels more often on early production daggers. P Wyersberg, Eick. and SMF gilt seems to have retained their finish best over time. As mentioned above other makers production gilt often darkened of wore off more easily.
