These have been around since the early 70s. Ask me how I know.

I hope they stay where they are, nothing but flashy junk designed to fool unsuspecting collectors.

                  SS Bayos

So Bernie...Did you buy one? Not a thing wrong with that. In the 70's I would have bought one or two if I could have afforded it! Butch

These must have been available in quite a number of etch patterns. A fellow member here has a collection of them with at least a dozen different unit markings. Quite collectible in their own way although they do unfortunately cause unsuspecting collectors grief.

                    Regards,
                    Stu

I'm not supporting the decision to etch them just commenting on the fact they are collectible to some folks.

                        Regards,
                        Stu

The first were done in UK in late 70ies, this are already most real Polish, Czech or Hungarian etches, inspired on dress bayonet etches and added various units, unfortunally damaged for ever, but the Russian buy this everytime when i get to Prague militaria show. So same year there are more and more samples there. Because Russian have a lot money, but unfortunally very few good information about this faked etches. Some very collectible bayonets were ruined, when it would be realised on yugoslavian reworks is not so problem.

These were altered in the 1970's to promote what was a slow selling item and cheap at the time,in 1971 I got my first S84/98 for £2.50(as it turned out a Czech re-issue).I found out about these early on and was suspisious anyway about them.I've never had one or would want one,I know people collect them now but they still fetch well over a hundred pounds a time which I cannot understand,I would of thought once these became known they were fake the price would come down.John

I purchased two of these -one Wehrmacht the other SS w/ matching scabbards in beautiful condition in 1972 in London from a military store called "Call to Arms". I believe I paid $20.00 each for them. At the time He had at least 12 of them in his show case as well as some extremely good copies of different Gorgets.
Both the bayonets and the Gorgets I was told by the owner were fakes so He was not trying to sell them as originals.
