Cross-guard looks like a worn E Pack 2nd. Used by several other makers as well as Pack.

Interesting pommel. The top groove is so deep they chopped the top of the oak leaves off.

Ask for better pictures if I were you I would never buy this piece based on those pictures although it does look legit.

From my point of view the cross-guard and the pommel are made of alumimium.

No, the dagger is an original and the aluminium parts are not so often by a Heer dagger.

                  Doesn't look right

In my opinion it is a repro but I yield to more knowledgeable persons here. If someone thinks it is good, please explain the very poor execution of the crossguard and pommel. Look for example, at the swastika on the crossguard.

DK Hunter, This is indeed an interesting Heer, guard and pommel are very early and unusual, my vote is on these fittings being brass based...very much like an Anton Wingen 1st style but having significant differences in feathering and in the swastika wreath, also position of wings and top of head in relation to the top edge of the guard. Pommel is very short and squat in appearance, very neat variation here...ORIGINAL to early pre war, NO worries there... Give us some more info like is there a maker mark? More pics of fittings and close ups of scabbard and scabbard screw type.. has it been apart, is the tang tapered type?? I will be waiting on the edge of my seat! Kevin.

P.S.. Just talked with my friend and fellow Heer collector Tom Kendall and he most probably put me on the right path..perhaps this is a Pack 2nd variation with no enhancing and a worn mold?? Head is quite large for that though..? Maybe they worked the head down in size while enhancing it ? Still like to see more!

Most likely a good decision IMO. With the quality of the lighting making it difficult to determine just what type of metal was used - and the appearance more that of a poor casting versus a worn example. Leaving open the possibility that maybe it's just bad imagery - that needs some good high quality images in sunlight or a more neutral setting to resolve one way or the other. FP
