    SA Dagger For Review

    Hi guys,

I would like for you to review this dagger for me. Does everything look good? Been wanting to get a nice SA for my very small collection. Thanks in advance.

Looks good to me and appears never to have been taken apart from the verdigris around the grip ends and the eagle an SA logo.
      Nice looking dagger.

Sensational dagger that has probably spent 79 years in the closet. Looks good. Regards SF

No, John, 'everything does NOT look good' -- the whole piece looks FANTASTIC, excellent, mint, etc. and etc.! All of us wish our first SA M-33 was in this condition! Don't let this piece slip away from you...

There appears to be a mark on the reverse lower crossguard but I can't make it out from the photo. That's where the SA-Gruppe mark would be if this piece was among the earliest of the M-33s provided by this maker.

                    Good luck,

                    Br. James

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I went ahead and purchased the dagger. The crossguard is stamped "Sa". There was also an equally nice RAD em hewer from the same veteran source. I bought that one also.

The dagger is nice, so the scabbard. No doubt about that! But is it possible that they do not belong together?

The scabbard looks like a late RZM scabbard. Take a look at the screw heads. Early scabbards have usually flat screw heads. The screw heads at this scabbard protrude quite a lot.

                        Are the fittings plated?

On the left: early scabbard with flat screw head

On the right: late RZM scabbard with round screw head

The "Sa" stamped to the reverse lower crossguard represents SA-Gruppe Sachsen. A beautiful dagger indeed!
