Army dagger hanger belt loop

Can any one advise as to what is the correct belt loop needed
on the Heer brocade belt to hang the dagger?Any photos would
be appreciated.

Dan,
After reading your question I did a quick scan of my Johnson Reference Books to try and find an answer to your question. From the photos in his book it does not appear that a belt loop was actually worn on the brocade belt. It appears that when the brocade belt was worn that the standard hangers were clipped to a "D" ring inside the tunic, and not suspended from the belt at all. At least this is the way it was done in four separate photos. While some of the more experienced guys may hop in and set me straight, it appears to me that there was only one style of belt loop.

There are indeed no belt loops for daggers or for swords on brocade belts (even leather ones). The hanger for a sword could also be clipped on a crossstrap worn under the tunic.

Mr. Snigley and Mr. Schneider are right. I think only the SS and SA had exterior loops on belts for hangers. All Heer dagger suspensions and sword hangers came from under the tunic or the pocket. Same for Luftwaffe, I believe.

I'll agree with the previous responses...the brocade belt was generally worn with the parade and dress uniforms which featured a means for suspending the dagger inside the tunic.
