My first Sword, Luftwaffe..

Hello,
Well I have wanted a Sword for a long time, just had not found the one that spoke to me until now... maker is SMF, in very nice condition, no graying or pits, the scabbard is in beautiful shape also. There is a mark by the maker mark, not sure if it is part of the maker mark or another mark or just a ding..

Nice sword. The other mark is an eagle "5" stamp, correct for this sword. Any unit mark? Sometimes they are unit stamped under the cross guard.

A real beauty and a treasure, Van -- CONGRATS! This is my favorite sword design...though I don't own one...and I'll never understand why the Luftwaffe (or Hermann Göring) gave up this striking, classic design in favor of the standard, run-of-the-mill design that followed?! Enjoy it!!

Thanks all, I have been looking for years for a good sword to buy, seen some nice Army, Police and Luftwaffe swords but this one is by far the nicest one I have seen, with a complete leather hanger that is not missing or torn, and the covering on the scabbard is in great condition too... all the screws are present, just a great sword...
And to answer PaulJ, nope no other markings...
