    portepee

I have the chance to pick up a fairly worn portepee what would a good price be for this? The "acorn" is in good shape the strap is a little worn out,not sure what dagger it comes from but i would assume a Heer dagger.
    Thanks
    Eric.

Hi Eric, here in the UK I would expect to pay about £40. I have bought a couple from E Bay UK for slightly less. Hope this helps?

    Cheers, Ade.

Actually, unless you're trying to match it up with a mint piece, this is the way I like to see them.

Thanks for the info, these are totally out of my limited knowledge. What would the price be on this one? still in the 40.00 range?
hopefully the dagger shows up still looking thru boxes.

                Eric,

The portepee you posted photos of is for a sword. The standard dagger portepee is the smaller 'acorn' version with a round silver cord.

Found some sword pics. I've seen leather portepee straps and braided straps on daggers/swords/bayonets is this like on visors:leather for NCO braided for officers?

Hi Eric, the price of these in the UK is again in the £40 bracket. I actually paid £38 for mine about 3 years ago. As Skip pointed out it is a sword knot. Here is mine. These were worn both by Officers and NCO's.

                      Cheers, Ade.
